Marketing & Promotion For Your Book Launch

A book launch is a great way to get the word out about your new book, and marketing and promotion is a great way to spread the word about your launch!

I know, this is the point at which most writers cringe. Can’t we just write and publish the book and the rest takes care of itself?? Well, no. If you’re happy just to have your friends and family know about the book, then there’s not much need for marketing and promotion. But if you do, you need to have a marketing plan.

The good news is, promoting your book and its launch isn’t as hard and scary as you think! You just need to know what to do, and be persistent and consistent!

Facebook

A simple way to promote the launch of your new book is to share it on Facebook! If you have a personal Facebook profile, publish a post with the cover image of your book and a quick blurb, and the details of your launch.
If you have a Facebook page, publish the above post on your page, and then share to your personal profile to help it to be seen more. And if you wish, you can use Facebook Advertising to reach even more people.

Blog

If you have a blog, publish a post with the cover image of your book and a quick blurb, and the details of your launch.

Instagram

Post the cover image of your book along with a quick blurb and the details of your launch, or a link to the details. Instagram allows for 2,200 characters. You can use up to 30 hashtags for your Instagram posts.

Twitter

Seeing as you are only allowed 280 characters for a tweet, you will need to keep the content brief. Post a link to the launch details where people can find out more. Post the cover image along with a short blurb, or the release details. Use hashtags to help the post to be seen!

Does all this posting sound very time consuming? Hootsuite is a social media management platform that enables you to schedule posts in advance. You can sign up for and link up to three social media accounts for free!

Also, have a look at the contacts you have in your email. You don’t need to have an email database set up; even just sending a message out to your friends and family letting them know about your launch can be helpful. They can also pass it on to their contacts!
