This year one of my goals was to study.
My experiences with traditional education haven’t been great. I experienced learning difficulties throughout my schooling, which caused me to create a lot of negative stories about the education system. I did not finish high school and before now have not undertaken any tertiary education since I left after the completion of year 10.
I had been apprehensive to undertake a course of study out of fear that I would have no time to give to writing, my ultimate passion. But after much conversation with others and with myself, I am confident that I will be able to undertake this course of study whilst also keeping in touch with my writing. Rather than taking on a novel-sized project, I will be working on short stories while I study, so that I can satisfy the creative in me.
Now, at thirty years of age, I have found a course of study that I have genuinely connected with and feel excited about. A Cert 3 & 4 in Fitness. While that course has been postponed for now because of the current pandemic, instead I will be starting a Cert 3 in Business, which I can do completely online.
