She felt she was going mad; George had completely unravelled her, consuming her thoughts every moment of the day. She had never experienced such extreme emotional contrasts of love and longing before in her life, pulling her heart in opposite directions. What was wrong with her, she wondered.

She challenged George with her wit and knowledge, and over the next month, she and George learned more about one another, discovering a shared love for life and their religious faith.
The single rose rested in a vase on her dressing table. George had given it to her on their last date. The blossom was in full bloom, an adequate reflection of her life. She had her dream career and a boyfriend she adored. The plan for her life was on track, and everything was perfect.
